1. KD Paine’s PR Measurement blog is extremely interesting.  She explains how to meausre public relations, social media, media relations, and blogs.  I found her most recent post titled “Maybe google wil finally replace the clipping services” to be quite interesting as well.  Here she talks about how google has decided to include all newspaper clippings in their searches.  Why have we not done this before?  I cannot explain how many projects and papers I have written about local and national issues where I wish that I could have gotten a newspaper article.  (If it’s not sited, you can’t use it).  This is such a wonderful idea that will help people all over the world.

2. I really enjoyed talking to Paull Young in class the other day, so I especially enjoyed reading his blog post, Charity:water- A Social Media Birthday. This was such a clever idea and I really learned a lot from it.  Everything he mentions is true. Having your birthday on facebook lets the entire world know your special day.  People that I have not kept up with ten years, since middle school, will send me a message telling me happy birthday.  Do they really know my birthday? No. Paull Young decided to have a little experiement.  He asked people to send a donation to a charity instead of birthday presents.  He posted the link where you could do this on facebook and twitter.  Twitter brought in $302 while facebook brought in onlye $10.  He concludes with saying that people on twitter will take action, and people on facebook friends are “weak ties.”  I now know and understand that if I want people to do something or really pay attention to something, I will post it on twitter.
